Work with individual pupils (who are at risk of Permanent Exclusion, without intervention)

Work with the individuals, families and teachers. I believe the triangle – Student, School & Home – working together is an integral part of what I do. If all three work together, the young person can address the issues presently affecting their performance enabling them to engage and achieve.

Formulate an action plan with the students allowing them to take some ownership over the targets and sanctions; this focuses the student on what they need to work on. The students involvement is of key importance. A copy of the Action Plan goes to the student, teachers and home so everyone can work on the issues together as a team.

1:1 Meetings with the students, class observations and parental calls and meetings are carried out regularly (weekly for observation and 1:1) parental calls at least twice a month(usually I do more) accommodating the parents working hours where necessary.

Provide teachers with strategies, beneficial for the students’ progress.

Monitoring achievements and behavioural issues
Support and Training for Heads of Year and Heads of Faculty
Training teachers and support staff in Behaviour Management
Observing teachers and providing Behaviour Strategies
Training school staff on Behaviour Management
Training staff on how to carry out restorative meetings
Coaching staff with any educational concerns
Restorative Justice
